Resource Overview

General cybersecurity guidance would suggest that Health IT breach should not be considered a matter of "If", but rather a matter of "when". How an organization prepares and responds to an episode of breach is just as important as defending itself from breach. Unfortunately, Health Centers are seen as a domain with high potential for data breach and consequently it is critical for Health Center leadership to embrace breach mitigation across their entire organization vs being a matter to be addressed by their Health IT team.

Breach can occur through both internal and external network leaks, through malware such as Ransomware, and through physical means on site. The resources provided below are meant to provide general knowledge about breach mitigation and methods for mitigating against breach incidences.

HITEQ Highlights: Using Health Information Technology to Facilitate SBIRT Service Delivery in Health Centers

HITEQ Highlights: Using Health Information Technology to Facilitate SBIRT Service Delivery in Health Centers

Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) is an intervention designed to identify and provide early intervention and treatment to individuals who are at risk for or have substance use disorders (SUDs). Health centers are well positioned to integrate behavioral health interventions, such as SBIRT, into primary care to enhance patient care and overall health outcomes. The webinar discussed the use of health information technologies (IT) to facilitate the workflow of providing SBIRT services. Focus areas included: coding and billing for SBIRT services, using health IT to enhance SBIRT screening, communication, data capture and documentation, clinical decision support, and information sharing and reporting. The webinar presented examples and experiences of health centers currently using health IT to facilitate effective SBIRT service delivery.
