Addressing Childhood Obesity in Health Centers: Health IT Functionality

June 2019

As a follow up to our recent resource, Addressing Childhood Obesity in Health Centers: Promising Practices and Lessons Learned, HITEQ dug deeper into the support and functionality provided through health information technology (health IT), primarily focused on electronic health records (EHR) and population health management platforms for reporting the Childhood Weight Assessment and Nutrition and Physical Counselling clinical quality measure and addressing childhood obesity more broadly.

To increase understanding of the health IT currently in use, HITEQ collected guidance, information, and recommendations from experts who frequently work with the platforms most commonly used in health centers. Six EHRs and Health IT platforms are profiled: eClinicalWorks, NextGen, GE Centricity, Epic, Azara, and i2i. The resulting resource, which outlines guidance for optimizing these EHRs and health IT tools to support the monitoring, reporting, and addressing childhood obesity, can be downloaded below.
