What MACRA Means for Health Centers

Payment reform and health center impact

Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) establishes the Quality Payment Program through the Merit Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and Advanced Alternative Payment Models (APMs). Although most health centers are not affected by MACRA, they need to understand its components since MACRA reflects national trends to shift payment from volume- to value-based. This resource identifies several strategies health centers can take to respond to these shifting dynamics, even if MACRA requirements do not directly affect them for now.
